Fetal Medicine and Genetics Centre, conceptualised by Dr. Shreyasi Sharma is a channel to create awareness about Fetal Medicine and provide comprehensive and in-depth fetal care in India that matches the global standards of fetal care. Dr. Sharma’s exposure to international standards during her various assignments abroad vis a vis her assignments in India made her realise the gap of care within India for Fetal Medicine.

Fetal Medicine is a super-specialised branch of medicine that deals with the evaluation of fetal development; timely diagnosis of abnormalities if any; and treatment of these. With medical and technological advancements, early intervention and diagnosis in fetuses have become easier than ever. However, being a relatively nascent branch of medicine, India is far behind in terms of awareness and availability of tools for Fetal Medicine. Even in the country’s biggest hospitals, Fetal Medicine is rarely established as a separate speciality.

As a super speciality, Fetal Medicine practitioners undergo separate training to acquire different skill sets. This discipline also requires different clinical processes for management along with very high-end imaging technologies to visualise and assess the fetus which is essentially a super miniature human being.
