About

Vesicocentesis

Vesicocentesis is a procedure performed to drain the excess urine that is collected in the bladder of the fetus due to a condition called Lower urinary tract obstruction (LUTO). This procedure is performed by inserting a needle trans-abdominally to the urinary bladder of the fetus and draining the urine. Performing this procedure reduces the stress on the fetus’s kidneys due to the excessive build up of urine thereby reducing the damage to the kidneys.

This procedure takes about 15 min to 30 min.
